Why do I want an album?
I only need the digital files
Everyone does digital now. Why would you ever need an album or prints for that matter? This is a great question! So let’s think about this for a minute. Discs with digital information are already changing, the industry is moving towards USB technology. In ten more years, who knows what it will move to, 20 years or even 30 years. An album never needs any technology to view it. One of my favorite things to do is look through my parents wedding album. It turned 51 last year. I love to see my parents so young. My father passed away last year. My aunts and uncles in their 20’s, several of them are also gone. My grandparents are young in these images and are also now gone. It is a trip back in time. During the holidays when all of the family is together, everyone loves to go through the album and look at these images. The album has stood the test of time and years of all of us as well as our children going through them. The photographer that my parents hired was one of the best in the area and an album was important to my parents. This photographer provided a very professional album that is very durable and the prints were high quality. All of these elements are available only to professional photographers. My children enjoy looking through my wedding album as well. Both of their grandfathers are gone now but there are images of them in that album. I wanted my children to have the same experience I did looking through my parent’s wedding album. It was important to me that I found a professional that could provide these. I did not want my images fading over time, I wanted the true colors to be represented years later and they still look the same as the day I received them.
You can make an album through several online vendors as well as Wal-Mart now but the quality is not the same. They are made of lesser material. The color management by these labs are not going to be what a professional has access to. I have sample prints in my studio of the same image printed by my lab and various labs around the area and on line. The color is off in every print except the one from my lab. The quality of paper it is printed on is not the same. There is a very visible difference. The hues are either too blue or too orange from the other labs.
I also have framed portraits of two sets of great grandparents from their wedding day and one set of grandparents from their wedding that were produced by a professional photographer. To see these portraits and look through my parent’s album is a rare gift and I want all of my clients to find value in this and want their children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren to have this experience. What we create for you is a storybook of your wedding day. It is heirloom quality and something to be enjoyed for generations. When you are looking for a wedding photographer, please keep these things in mind. Albums and portraits outlive the people in them. They are a very important part of your family’s history.
